philosophy

A poet is someone who collects thoughts and ideas, feelings and experiences, and then expresses themselves in such a way that brings about change in the hearts and minds of those who discover the poem. The PoetHouse seeks to be like a poet, in that the thoughts, ideas, feelings and experiences of the individuals who make up its collective are shared in such a way that those who discover their art will be changed.

We exist to help people discover their artistic gifts and celebrate that which is created. We generate creativity and introduce new forms of art to the community by providing a space for artists of all ages to develop and exhibit their artwork. By fostering an artistic community, we recognize that we are influencing the greater community in a vital way.

PoetHouse Art is a community art space featuring local artist of all mediums. It is an exhibit space, meeting place, community and workshop space, that welcomes all regardless of experience level, ability, or income.

Non-Profits: PoetHouse is part of the community. We share ideas, space, education, and art with many local non-profits: Creativity Empowerment, Rise Up, EASA, Icon City, cada|casa, J Bar J, NorthStar, and others.

education
ya

PoetHouse has a passion as a community to help educate young people in the Arts, especially individuals who would normally not be in a position to afford that kind of an education. Our desire is to give them a “voice” for their own artistic gifts so that they can impact their community and culture in a positive way through the arts.

the space

Located in the TBD Loft on Minnesota Avenue in downtown Bend, Oregon, The PoetHouse serves as a co-operative gallery space, teaching space, gathering space, and studio space for artists and creatives who are interested in fostering a vibrant and nurturing community.

The TBD Loft is the upstairs of the Old Bend Hardware building. It houses not only the PoHo, as it is affectionately known, but also the Mandala Yoga Center and TBD advertising. The PoHo gallery mixes brick, timber, and canvas to create a space that lends itself to the shifting needs of the gallery and the artists who create here.
