Born a creator in Southern Minnesota, Tom Monson spent most of his creative energy putting together collected rocks, bits of plastic, sticks, pieces of metal, and rubber-bands to commingle with his GI Joes and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Between found objects and small hand built figurines, there was a spark of something that has continued to inform his work beyond Minnesota, throughout 4 years obtaining a B.A. in Studio Art, and on into his young adult life. Combining found items, tactile patterns, and bright colors have become consistent and reliable parts of his artistic alphabet- surviving 2-D and 3-D manifestations. Playing a foundational role in the beginnings of the Poethouse, he also serves on the Poethouse Board of Directors and functions as the Gallery Director.
